• Akitas are a large breed that require a lot of socialising and training. Do you have time to put into this?
• They will require daily exercise, Are you fit enough and have the time to provide this?
• Dog's are pack animals and hate to be alone. Will there be someone with the dog most of the time?
• Akita's are know escape artists. Is your garden secured and fenced in?
• Going to a new home will be a stressful time for the Akita, Many have been stuck in kennels and pounds for quite a while. Do you have the time and patience for this settling in period?
• Your Akita will likely live 10-15 years, Maybe more. Can you commit to this time? Regardless of house moves, additions to the family etc.
• Owning a dog is extremely rewarding, It can also be very costly. Do you have the means to cover any veterinary treatments your Akita may need in its life? We recommend insuring your dog.
